I must say I had a "fab" time in Vegas for this year’s WPPI! It was tiring to say the least but who sleeps when your in Vegas? The show was awesome with all the new up and coming photographers as well as the big names in the industry. I had a great time learning a few new things as well as getting inspired by ideas, emotion, and risk… risk.. yes risk… risk to do something different and push to exceed and not to limit yourself in anyway…. I like… but most of all be humble and never say you’ve made it because once that thought comes to mind. You’ve basically have ended your life as a photographer………
So with all the boat loads of inspiration comes the fun of Vegas, the “buffets” (I still think the Bellagio buffet is the best) and the meeting of new faces and friends. What’s really wilded is the fact that my friend Robert purchases a camera bag on Ebay from Matthew which I meet for the first time at WPPI and I find out that he knows my good friend Beth that I’ve known for years before I started shooting photography which he introduces us to a load of other photographers (Matthew do you not know of anyone at the show…. I couldn’t remember not stopping to say hi to someone when I was with you.. hehe). So here's a "two" hands full of people that I've met through Matthew these past few day.. and of course listed in random order. It was was great to meet all of you! Julie and her husband Aron, Gina, Kristi, April, Tammie, Stephanie, Ruth, Jo, Mary, 2 Marie’s ( yes 2 ), Patrice, and Lina and many others.... hmmm that’s a long list of ladies :) but not to get side track here…. So now I get home from WPPI to find out Stephanie and Kristi which I had lunch with knows Greg Bumatay which I’ve known since last year when he was a guest speaker at my commerical photography class and taught wedding photography at Cypress College. Which leads me to believe……. We ALL HAVE THE SAME MOM AND DAD……. Ok…. Maybe not but that just tells me we all love to meet new people and that in itself is a great asset when it comes to us photographers... but to say it all happen because of a camera bag purchased from ebay is an understatement....just imagine Robert if you didn't outbid the previous bidder that last second (I know you wanted that bag really bad)... would I be writing a whole different blog about my trip to WPPI this year..... I never did ask you Robert.... did you get a good deal on the Camera rollaway bag?

Talking to Mike Colon about photographic possiblities with the new D3
The one thing I remember during Mike's lecture was....
never refuse to hold a wedding date for a few days with
a potential client.... he learned the hard way...
Mike Colon and his Son
Yarvant and Joe Buissink... Two legends in the Biz of
Wedding Photography
Yarvant showing some of his technics on shooting
Cliff Mautner at the Nikon both talking about the D3.
I love Cliff's photographic work and his background of
being a photo journalist for many years really shows in
his photos. Very inspiring....
Joe Buissink at Yarvant's Lecture at WPPI 2008
It was an awesome week that I truly enjoyed, to have learned so much and to be inspired to such a degree that words can't express but only photos can speak. I want to leave with this little video that I took at Jerry's Ghionis lecture which I'm sure you might have a good laugh..... Enjoy and again thanks to all the new faces that I've meet this year at WPPI! You've made my trip a memorable one this year!
